Classic Majolica Floors and Pools
Classic Majolica is able to offer custom designed technically perfect hand made Italian tiles for floors and swimming pools very easily. We use modern blank tiles which are then decorated and fired according to traditional methods to become the finest reproduction majolica. Whether you wish for decorations having a purely Italian style based on the famous artwork of Neapolitan majolica or, if you have a family coat of arms which you wish included in a lounge or hallway or if you have a particular original decoration you wish to be included as a general theme, we are able to offer expert designs.
The steps involved are as follows :
Firstly, you should contact us by email indicating the kind of design you require, either floor or pool with a description of the kind of decoration you require, the main colours to be included and images of any particular features, for example, themes of Greek Gods, Views of the Bay of Naples, or Coats of Arms.
If you require a floor design you should send us the complete set of architects plans of the building interior for the complete area to be tiled. These should include all views with compass directions in order to take account of the light, the plan view from above showing the complete floor space, and the elevations showing heights of wall sections, windows and doors.
If you require a swimming pool, again you should send us a complete set of architects plans with all views of the pool together with compass directions and a description of the area surrounding the pool.
It is very important that these plans are of extremely high quality and exactly represent the area to be tiled.
After this we will study your plans and we will supply you with an estimate for two stages, the preliminary design and the full production. The preliminary design will commence after full payment for this stage, the full production will commence after a 50% downpayment has been received with the balance due upon consignment.
The preliminary design will include the following :
One complete decoration of the area to be tiled, painted in watercolor, on a copy of your architects plans, an example is shown below. The colours will accurately represent the colours of the actual majolica to be produced.
Additionally an area of tiles which will be indicated in the preliminary design and these tiles will actually be produced. Typical examples of individual features which may be produced in the preliminary design phase, prior to approval for full production are shown below.
Both the preliminary design watercolour and any additional drawings together with the small selection of individual tiles representative of the complete artwork will then be sent to you for your approval.
Upon your approval of the preliminary design and receipt of the 50% downpayment, full production of the entire majolica design will commence. Once the manufacture is finished, the complete artwork will be laid out on the factory floor as shown below, to check for perfect correspondence with the original design.
Once this stage is completed the tiles are then numbered, as shown below, prior to packing to enable easy reassembly at their final destination.
The complete design is then packed and sent by express courier to your address. Upon consignment the outstanding balance is paid.
In the unlikely event of damaged tiles the individual pieces of tile should be returned to Capodimonte Limited whereupon new substitute tiles will be manufactured and sent back to you.
